Some weddings are joyful. Some are imaginative. And then there are weddings like C&J’s — where every detail tells a story. Set at The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club, this March celebration blended bold colour, meaningful touches, and a whole lot of Lord of the Rings magic. Captured beautifully by @venusphotographicstudios, it was a day full of personality, creativity and heart — the kind of styling we love to bring to life.
From First Meet to Final Magic
We first met C&J at the Unconventional Wedding Fair at Nottingham University — an event all about celebrating creativity, individuality, and non-traditional love stories. It was clear from the start that they had a strong vision for their day and were looking for a stylist who could bring their ideas to life while offering full planning support along the way.
They booked our Full Support Styling Package, which meant we had the joy of working closely with them from the very beginning. Communication started just over a year before their wedding date, kicking off with mood boards, Pinterest inspiration and a visit to their venue to walk through the layout and logistics. From these early chats, their initial design began to take shape.
In the six months leading up to their date, our conversations became more frequent. We’re always open to questions or changes throughout the process, and we stayed in touch via email and WhatsApp — a great way to get a quick response (workload permitting, of course!).
Then, around eight weeks before the big day, we created their final styling design. This is a visual document that brings everything together — helping couples clearly see how their ideas and our props, textures, and setups will combine to create their perfect day.
Bold Colour Meets Tolkien-Inspired Wonder
Our bride’s love of bold, joyful colour really shone through in the styling. Teal green table runners created a rich base for an explosion of wild florals, including vibrant sunflowers — a meaningful tribute to her grandfather’s favourite flower.
A Walk Through Middle-earth
With The Lord of the Rings as their shared inspiration, C&J wove touches of Middle-earth magic throughout their day. Tables were named after iconic lands like Rivendell and The Shire, and guests discovered their seats via a custom Tolkien-style map.
We brought the woodland indoors using earthy, natural elements: soft moss, wooden lanterns, log slices, and glass domes featuring tiny LOTR characters that told stories of adventure and love on each table. It was detailed, immersive, and entirely them.
A Celebration Filled with Joy
This day was more than a wedding — it was an experience. One full of imagination, heart, and a deep sense of personality. Every detail was carefully chosen and thoughtfully placed, and it was an honour to help C&J bring their vision to life.
